Steve Taylor - Owner/President/CEO
I am a native of Myrtle Beach and I feel fortunate to have been able to live, raise my family, and grow my business in a town that I love. I was literally raised on the beach as my father was the manager of a local beach service for the first twelve years of my life. Both of my parents taught school and coached at Myrtle Beach High School, so I grew up getting to know lots of locals and spending my summers on the beach. Actually, other than me getting older and having my own family and a business to run, not much has changed in my life. I still have a lot of lifelong friends and spend my summers on the beach surfing, sailing and relaxing. To me the “beach life is the good life” epitomizes me, my family and Native Sons.
My career in the tee shirt business began after a short stint in dental school where I learned that I didn’t want to be a dentist. Upon my return from school in 1986 I began managing a small screen print shop with one manual press and what I now believe may have been the first automatic press ever made. Myrtle Beach was growing, I knew a lot of people in town, and I worked hard so the business grew.
In 1990 I branched out on my own and the rest is history so to speak. In the past 18 years we’ve printed millions of shirts for thousands of different companies and customers. We’ve donated thousands of shirts to charites and the community. We’ve made some mistakes and misspelled a few words but we’ve always been honest and made good on them. We’ve had hundreds of interesting characters work for us and there are countless funny stories about employees and customers. In short, its been a great ride. I’ve always told people that tee shirts are fun and making them should be too, so thats how I’ve tried to run the business. For the most part I think I’ve been successful in that respect and I am proud to say so… because as I look back it has been fun and still is.

Dave Bell - Pre-Press Coordinator
Way back in the spring of ’94 I joined Native Sons, catching hot tee-shirts at the back of the dryer. I did a lot of cross-training – I pulled shirts off the press, cleaned squeegees and screens, and worked in packaging when needed. I went on to handle shipping, receiving and deliveries for a couple of years, then moved up to the front office and spent ayear as our receptionist. I held a project manager position for nine years, performing customer service for hundreds of accounts (maybe thousands). Now I’m the pre-press coordinator, managing our film archive and conducting affairs between our art and screen print departments. Hailing from God’s favorite state, West Virginia, I’ve been a resident of the Myrtle Beach area since 1986. I enjoy all fine arts and literature, especially comic books and offensive music. I’m happily married with zero kids, which is working out great so far. I enjoy spending time with friends and family and living The Beach Life. I’m proud to be part of Steve Taylor’s Native Sons family.

Autumn Waugh - Art Director
Hi! While working on my Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, I started an internship as an artist at a screen print company back in ‘03. I immeadiately fell in love with designing apparel & I’ve been doing it ever since. I became one of the artists here at Native Sons in the summer of ‘08. Coming from the blistering winters of Michigan, it wasn’t a real tough decision. I do what I love as a career and I coudn’t be happier working here. In my down-time I enjoy hanging out at the beach or at home painting, drawing or doing anything art related.

Richard Knott - Sales
Let’s get down to screen printing business. I’m an important cog in the machine we call Native Sons. I am a sales agent by day and a heat press ninja by night. I feel like I’m one of the original owners of Native Sons, because when I was a kid I used to give my hard earned, grass cutting entry money to all the events Native Sons held, such as the Surf & Spike. I bleed Native Sons ink and that makes me an over achieving sales agent. I am here for your screen printing needs, so please ignore the other sales agents listed. I enjoy a nice vintage cut shirt, Diet Sunkist on a warm day, a cool evening breeze and sun showers when I’m wearing a nice mesh tank top. I love the feeling of sand between my toes and anything I can compete in. At night I tend to frequent places with the game Silver Strike Bowling, contemplating the reason for my existence, or dreaming. Truly… I love Native Sons… It’s the Best!

Kari Warner - Purchasing/Sales
I am actually a robot. I was built by Native Sons scientists to be the perfect Purchasing Agent/ Sales Rep, and so far so good. I think you’ll find that I am a pleasure to work with and am rather life like, and I just ask that if it starts to rain, you find me some shelter and maybe squirt a little oil behind my knees so I can maintain optimum performance. When I’m not plugged in recharging, I enjoy playing with my delightful dogs, relaxing with my fantastic family & friends, and avoiding sand and water at the beach with my blissful robo-boyfriend. Give me a buzz at Native Sons and ask for the Sales Representative of the future!

Crystie Helms - Sales
I have worked as a sales rep at Native Sons since 1993…back in the dark ages when Steve actually pulled a squeegee! I grew up in Spartan-burg, SC but our family had a home in MB so I was always visiting the beach and spent all of my summers here. After high school I moved here to attend Coastal Carolina and I’ve never left. I love going to the beach, walking my dog Cameron, riding horses, and socializing with friends and family. Nothing beats a good glass of Pinot Grigio after a hard day at work! I have seen tremendous change here in Myrtle Beach and here at Native Sons and am proud to be a part of both.

Laura Dixon - Sales
With over 20 years in apparel sales and manufacturing, I know how to help my clients develop a well designed, comfortable t-shirt. Our shirts are guaranteed to become a favorite, the one that stays on top of the t-shirt stack, or even better, goes right from the dryer to your body. I recieved my BS in Business Management from Central Connecticut State University and a MBA from The Citadel. I now live in Awendaw, SC, with my husband, Randy. I enjoy travel, fitness, cooking, and relaxing on the porch enjoying the beautiful marsh views of Bulls Bay.

Lorenzo Grant - Production Manager
I’m the Production Manager at Native Sons. I’ve worked here for 10 years and printed for 15. Local to contract I’ve printed it all; Nike, Reebok, Adidas and A&F just to name a few. I like screen-printing and making visions come to life on t-shirts. I also love to travel and spend time with my family when not at work.

Darlene Hucks - Embroidery Manager
I have been the Embroidery manager here at Native Sons since 2003. I have been working in Embroidery for 14 years. When I’m not at work I’m usually on the beach somewhere or on the ocean fishing with family and friends!
